Winghostty puts Ghostty’s terminal core inside a native Win32 app. You get tabs and splits, session restoration, a real settings window, and a keyboard-driven palette for everything else.

GPU rendering
Ghostty’s terminal core draws every frame through OpenGL 4.3+ via WGL. Native window chrome renders on its own pipeline.

Tabs and splits
A real Win32 workspace with tabs, horizontal and vertical splits, and per-profile shells. IME input and drag-and-drop follow Windows conventions on x64 and ARM64.

Session restoration
Close Winghostty and reopen it to the same windows, tabs, and split layouts. Working directories, profiles, and explicit titles come back too.

Native settings
A settings window covers appearance, shells, keybindings, privacy, and updates. Changes are staged, then saved without rewriting unrelated lines of your config.

Universal palette
Press one shortcut and type a few characters to reach any action, tab, pane, or setting. Fuzzy search covers profiles and themes too.

Signed updates
Nothing installs behind your back. Download mode stages an installer only after SHA-256 and Authenticode checks pass, and you choose when to run it.
Why a fork?
Ghostty does not ship a Windows app today, so Winghostty builds one around Ghostty’s terminal core. The core is shared with upstream; the application runtime, windowing, settings, and updater are this fork’s own work.
Public releases are out now for Windows 10 and 11 on x64 and ARM64. Installers and Windows binaries are Authenticode-signed, but SmartScreen may still warn while reputation builds. Click More info, then Run anyway. The project moves quickly, so read the release notes before updating.
There is no telemetry and there are no analytics. The only network traffic is the update check against GitHub Releases, and download mode stages a verified signed installer that waits for your confirmation.
Windows UI Automation support is partial, not complete. Terminal text, focus, selection, the command palette, and native settings controls have coverage today; broader per-widget and screen-reader validation is still in progress.
